December 11, 2020
Dear Members of the University Community,
I am very sorry to say that Jeremiah Burch Walker, a student in our Metropolitan School of Professional Studies, died December 6. He was 22 years old.
Jeremiah was from the District of Columbia, and was preparing for a career in the legal profession. According to Chad Smith, Director of the Paralegal Program, Jeremiah “was an excellent student who was very active in the Zoom classes and did excellent work. He had a bright future. His death is so unfortunate.”
His family will hold a pass-through service next Thursday at the Stewart Funeral Home on Benning Road for those who wish to pay their respects. University chaplain Father Jude DeAngelo said Jeremiah will be remembered at Mass on campus this Sunday at 11 am.
Campus Ministry, the Counseling Center, and the Office of the Dean of Students are available to provide support to members of the University community.
Please join me and our entire community in praying for Jeremiah. May he rest in peace.
Sincerely,
John Garvey
President
